HUMA
Brain Health Score
In BHS mobile app, we provide the users with a Brain Healthy Marathon to join in order to help them maintain a healthy lifestyle to improve themselves based on 5 important key contributors. These key contributors are sleep quality, stress level, depression, social interaction, and physical activity. Our goal was to help brain health enthusiasts to lower their risk of cognitive decline later in their lives.

My role
As a seasoned Senior Product Designer, I played a pivotal role in the Brain Health Score project, leading it from inception to delivery. My responsibilities encompassed a diverse range of activities, including brainstorming innovative ideas, conducting exploration sessions with the team, and delving into comprehensive UX research. I took charge of running unmoderated remote usability testing to gather valuable insights, built and refined assumptions, and crafted both low-fi and hi-fi frames to shape the project's direction. Conceptualizing and constructing user flows, I translated ideas into interactive prototypes, ensuring a seamless user experience. My involvement extended to supporting UI design for native iOS, overseeing iterative phases, and delivering precise hand-offs to the development team. I maintained a strong communication channel, reporting progress to the product owner and actively participating in client calls. Ultimately, I led the project through every stage, from defining the problem to testing early concepts with users, culminating in the creation of pixel-perfect designs and preparing comprehensive hand-offs for delivery.
What I did as a Senior Product Designer
-
Requirements gathering (Primary & secondary research, Interviews)
-
Crafted empathy maps and built personas
-
Defined the problem space, created problem statement & goal statements
-
Built assumptions (5 main assumptions)
-
Created numerous concepts for all the assumptions
-
Designed clickable prototypes for each concept
-
Conducted usability & usefulness testing for each concept
-
Collated all the findings and feedback from user testing (Figjam Board)
-
Reiterated the final concepts
-
Finalised all the deliverables and dev-ready hand offs

Design-to-Dev Collaboration
As a senior product designer, I played a pivotal role in fostering seamless collaboration between the design and development teams, ensuring a cohesive and efficient product development process. Working closely with both the front-end and back-end teams, I conducted multiple grooming sessions to meticulously articulate design specifications, guidelines, and important notes. My commitment to clarity led me to create clickable prototypes for each user flow and journey, providing a tangible and interactive representation of the expected behavior and micro-interactions. Through these efforts, I facilitated a shared understanding, enabling the entire team to align with the design vision. This collaborative approach not only streamlined the handover process but also underscored the significance of effective communication in delivering pixel-perfect prototypes. My dedication to open and transparent communication fostered a synergistic working environment, where everyone was empowered to contribute their expertise towards achieving our collective goals.

What I learned?
Designing from scratch is better but more challenging than redesigning.
As I was involved in the project right from the beginning until after it was delivered for development, I had this great opportunity to experience the whole product development lifecycle.
Aggregate. Curate. Design
I got an opportunity to be a part of a process where we identified the Brain Health Enthusiasts, 5 important lifestyle factors like sleep quality, stress level, depression and etc. , opportunity to interview patients and our target users to create a consistent experience that addresses the user needs.
The importance of Design and development team collaboration
The most appreciated aspect of this project was the nature of the collaboration between design and development teams. The development team was involved in the design process right from the beginning, which helped everyone from the team empathize with the users and contribute towards creating the tailored experience for the target user. We had daily stand ups almost everyday and we had our teammates from engineering team almost in all our daily stand ups and it was very fruitful and efficient for the whole team.
The importance of testing the early concepts
I had this great experience in the project that conceptualization is fine and good but testing those early concetps is key. We were much biased in our concepts and we learned a lot and gathered very fruitful insights when we tested those early concepts with our target users.
